Aseambankers Malaysia Berhad (ASEAMBANKERS), an investment banking arm of Maybank, is one of the leading merchant banks in Malaysia.

It was incorporated on September 28, 1973 under the name Asian & Euro-American Merchant Bankers (Malaysia) Berhad. ASEAMBANKERS provides quality, sophisticated and innovative financial solutions to its clients' business needs delivering top quality products and services.

Effective November 11, 2006, ASEAMBANKERS and Mayban Discount was integrated. This key milestone brings ASEAMBANKERS closer to becoming a full-fledged Investment Bank as well as fulfilling its vision of becoming the preferred investment bank.

This successful integration has increased the clientele base, the bond portfolio and other money market assets of ASEAMBANKERS. The Islamic portfolio of Mayban Discount has also broadened Aseambankers' participation in the Islamic capital market and thus, ASEAMBANKERS is now able to offer more comprehensive services to its customers.

The second phase of the integration between ASEAMBANKERS and Mayban Securities was completed on December 30, 2006 which allows ASEAMBANKERS to become a full-fledged Investment Bank. On January 3, 2007 it has commences its stockbroking business following the approval obtained from Securities Commission and Bursa Malaysia Berhad.

The merging of the stockbroking business of Mayban Securities with ASEAMBANKERS will pave the way for the Investment Bank to bring the equity business of the Maybank Group to the higher level. The rationalzation exercise will also enhance the Maybank Group synergies and allow ASEAMBANKERS to be a significant player in the domestic and regional capital markets and ASEAMBANKERS is now in a better positioned to further establish itself as the preferred investment banking partner.

The integration exercise is in line with the Guidelines on Investment Banks issued by Bank Negara Malaysia and Securities Commission which aims to strengthen the capacity and capabilities of the domestic banking groups through rationalization to better face the challenges of liberalization and globalization.
